Eggman Empire Closure Tony February 6, 2010

Well, folks, it's pretty obvious that activity is dead, and there's a good reason for that. There are still some folks who attend the forums, and I appreciate that it's still getting use. The lifespan of this website, I feel, has definitely run its course, and with the site creator having found a very fulfilling and busy life, with another wrapped up in his own life, and with two of us others having mentally moved on from the Sonic fandom as a whole, as well as having found our own lives to deal with, the site just isn't what is used to be to us anymore. We all have things going on, and we have our own ambitions that stretch much further than keeping an Eggman fansite up and going.

So, I believe it is for the best that we close our doors. Rather - the site will not go down, it will probably stay up for as long as our gracious hosts are able to keep it online. I will not be returning again to update with new content, and the other folks I had in mind to take over got wrapped up in their own life ambitions, and with nobody else on hand to really take over 100%, I'm not really left with a whole lot of options.

I think it's time for the Empire to just be a decent archive of Eggman information and related trivia bits. It does a really good job of that, and, who knows? Maybe it'll rekindle interest someday. That would be cool. But... I don't think it'll happen. My reccommendation? If you're after an Eggman website, and you don't want to see this one go down - then perhaps you oughta start anew. Trying to pick up the pieces with this place hasn't worked time and time again, and while some faithfuls still hang around (bless your hearts), there's never really been a successful -revival-, and... with this in mind, anyone wishing to carry on the works would do best to start -fresh-, so as to gather attention from people who are after the -newest things-. This website is pretty much reeking of circa-2006, and has yet to really transfer to what could be considered the -new age- of HD or whatever.

In short, those who want to carry on the tradition of Eggman? Then -start fresh-. And do what we couldn't do, and keep interest alive.

As for this place, just consider it a now-defunct archive of helpful information. If there is anybody who wants to start their own place, consider this a well-founded resource of information and official imagery that you can use to get yourselves off the ground. Consider this an Eggman Database to help get you folks started.

I will say, though, at least in light of all of the fan stuff, if you're going to use -that-, contact the original creators of the fan work to avoid running into trouble with anyone later down the road.

This has been a wonderful experience for me, and it helped shape what was eventually my life on the internet, so I do have this wonderful place to thank for that. and I also appreciate the support from everyone who stuck around over the years, especially when times were tough and trying. But, as of this writing, I am done with the website, and I place the padlock on its doors for the sake of closure, and so that I don't have to stress about leaving any loose ends up. I have other things I want to pursue - and the Eggman Empire isn't on that list.

Thanks a million, you guys. Keep strong in this crazy fandom - The good times will come back once again. But when they do, those of us who ran the place will simply be witness to the events, rather than working on the next headline.
